Salt haze
Naples sits on the Gulf, and salt in the air settles on glass and frames. Left alone, that film dulls the view and holds onto dust and pollen.
A film like that does not come off by wiping dry glass. It is also why a quick spray from the hose often leaves the window cloudy again.
Hard water spots
The USGS defines water hardness as the amount of dissolved calcium and magnesium in the water. When hard water dries on glass, it leaves residue that the USGS describes as not dangerous, but unsightly.
The City of Naples 2024 water quality report says the water it delivered ranged from 58 to 102 mg/L hardness, averaging 67 mg/L. On the USGS scale, 61 to 120 mg/L is moderately hard. Sprinklers that hit the glass can leave spots, and the longer they sit, the harder they are to clean.
What helps
| Problem | What does not work | What does |
|---|---|---|
| Salt haze | Dry wipe or a quick hose spray | Washing the glass and frames by hand |
| Mineral spots | Letting them sit for months | Cleaning them early, not after months of buildup |
| Frames and screens | Close range pressure | Soft wash at low pressure |
| Inside the glass | Skipping it | Inside and out in one visit |
How we clean them
We clean windows by hand, inside and out, so the glass comes out streak free. Text photos of the windows to 940-300-4947 for a free written quote. You get before and after photos when we finish.
